First Video Attempt

After working on my DVD advert. I started to film my music video. It took me ages to find a field in which to film the chase scene, i found one in nutfield and i began filming. I took me two or so hours to get all my footage together and even longer to start editing. I edited about 10 seconds of film in a couple of hours. The footage wasn't what I was after, it didn't look good, I didn't film enough. There wasn't enough footage to work with. I filmed over that footage before I managed to upload it.

Ideas for Advert

I have been working on my DVD advert and decided to do it on a live tour filmed for DVD. I used the band font from the CD cover and the band name. I searched on Google for a picture of a pen and a sword and after great length found a picture. I liked the idea of having a rather plain advert. The way I presented the band is as if they were an extremely anticipated band and people already knew most of what they needed to do. I had in mind a teaser trailer for a film but in the form of a magazine advert. So just a plain background with the band name, tour name and release date.

Video Inspiration

After putting together the final edit on CD of the song, i started to brainstorm ideas for the video. I came up with the idea of a chase scene in through a film. the reason I chose to do a chase scene is because there is automatic drama created. I have taken inspiration from Underoath's 'reinventing your exit' music video. I could never get anything that would look as proffesionally done as it or get the special effects they used but it was a chase scene to draw insiration from.

Initial Ideas

I've chosen to do a music promotional video as my major task. My friend and I wrote a song a few years ago and I always wondered what a music video for that song would be. I thought I'd find out.

My initial plans are to use my own song that a friend and I recorded for the music video. We had a prototype band name and a song title so I decided to use those. Because the song is my own I have no copyright issues and can use the original recording and original band font.

One of the problems I expected to encounter was how to film properly, the only experince of how to film came from studying the shots of previously published films. I also have had no previous experiences of editing any footage. This was going to be quite an experience for me.
